New Regulations for Visiting Machu Picchu
Starting from January 2019, entrance tickets to Machu Picchu are sold with specific visiting hours, ranging from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Visitors are required to board the bus that will take them to Machu Picchu in advance to avoid unnecessary queues in Machu Picchu Pueblo and congestion at the entrance gates.
Since January 2021, new visiting circuits have been established based on the type of entrance ticket purchased, whether for Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu mountain, or Machu Picchu mountain. Day 1 Cusco – Santa MarÃa: Bikes (55Km) y los Baños termales de Santa Teresa
Your Short Inca Jungle Trek 3 Days 2 Nights to Machu Picchu tour starts with the pick up at 7:00 a.m. from your hotel and then we will go to Ollantaytambo where we will stop to have breakfast, then we will continue in our private bus for 3 hours to the starting point of the bicycles called the “Airport” on our way we will pass through the Abra Malaga 4,316 masl. At the “airport” you will receive some safety instructions from your guide and then he will provide you with the complete and necessary equipment for this activity. We will begin the descent by bicycle for 3 hours (55km) to the town of Huamanmarca, then we will go to the town of Santa MarÃa (30 minutes by car) where we will have our first lunch; then we will go in our private bus to the town of Santa Teresa where we can refresh ourselves and enjoy the thermal baths, we will spend the night in a family hostel.
Day 2 Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes (Zip Line o Canopy – opcional)
After our breakfast, at 7:00 a.m. approx. We will start our walk towards the town of Aguas Calientes, first we will walk for 3 hours through the Aobamba valley to the sector called Intihuatana where we will pass a small government checkpoint; then we continue to Inka Rakay where we will enjoy our lunch on this journey we will see a series of waterfalls and we will also have the opportunity to contemplate the majestic Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains as well as the Intihuatana or sundial that will be seen at the top of the mountain and other constructions of the Inca citadel of Machupicchu after the last 3 hours of walking will be next to the railway line to the town of Aguas Calientes.
Day 3 Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Retorno a Cusco
On this day you will have two options to visit Machu Picchu 1) It is to continue walking for 1 hour and a half through an ascending path with several stairs until you reach the entrance of the citadel or 2) Buy your bus ticket that it has a value of 12 dollars for the climb or 24 dollars for the rise and fall. Once in Machu Picchu 2,490 m you will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours.
After your visit to Machu Picchu you will have to return to the town of Aguas Calientes so that you can have lunch, you will be able to find many restaurants and you will be able to choose the one that suits you best. After your lunch you will have to go to the train station and board it for approximately 1 and 40 minutes to the Ollantaytambo station, there the transport will be waiting for you with your name and you will be transferred to the City of Cusco the trip lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes approximately.

The return train schedule at the end of the Tour/Trek: It is the Expedition Train at 18:20pm or 19:00pm DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY.
If you prefer the earlier train return we can reserve it for an additional cost of 35 dollars per person; the times you can choose are: 14:55pm or 16:35pm. We also offer the option to reserve the 3:40pm Vistadome train for an additional cost of $65 per person. Please let us know in advance which train schedule you prefer. We inform you that none of the reserved trains go directly to Cusco, the trains only arrive at the Ollantaytambo or Poroy stations. In any of the cases, we will always guarantee the shipment of a transport that will pick them up and bring them back to Cusco.
Can I exchange my return train ticket for an earlier one? in the same station of Aguas Calientes?
Yes, you can make this change in person at the Aguas Calientes train station. However, they will ask you to pay an additional fee to change the ticket and this change will be subject to the availability of spaces and schedules on the train.
How long does the return trip to Cusco take?
It’s about 3 hours. You will first board a train in Aguas Calientes to the train station in Ollantaytambo for 1h30m; then a transfer from our office will be waiting for you at the exit of the train station with a sign that will have your name on it to take you to our car/van back to Cusco for approximately 1h30m; finally it will take you to your hotel/hostel. You will receive your train tickets once your tour in Machu Picchu has finished.

How do I get the student discount?
The ISIC Card IS NO LONGER VALID to buy the Ticket to Machu Picchu or the Inca Trail with a student discount.

What are the accommodations like for the first two days of the tour? The first two days, we will host you in local family houses that have been converted into hostels and banheitos, therefore they have only shared.
Physical Fitness: The Inca Jungle is certainly not easy, but you do not have to be an athlete or trekking expert to complete this tour. Your physical condition is of course important since it will allow you to carry out all the activities within the tour and thus you will be able to enjoy the beautiful landscape along the way. If you do not exercise regularly, it is advisable to take extra walks or some type of aerobic activity during the months before your trip. Before doing the walk, we recommend that you visit your doctor who can provide you with more information.
How long is the descent on the bikes and what is it like? The descent on the bicycles lasts approximately 3 hours. It is important to inform you that the downhill part of the bike can be a bit dangerous, especially if you do not have much practice in downhill riding. If this decenzo is too dangerous for you, you can stay the car until the rest of the group reaches the end of the decenzo. It should be noted that all our bicycles are in good condition and are equipped with hydraulic brakes and we provide all the safety equipment.
What activity can I do if I don’t want to do rafting? If you are not interested in rafting, you will be taken to the place where local residents carry out their activities and you can participate in them.
What should I wear when rafting? You have to wear bathing suits and running shoes or waterproof shoes. It is also important to bring warm clothing to wear after rafting.
How long will the rafting route last? It will last around 2:30 hrs.
Where to keep your things? : You can leave or store the things that you will not take to the Inca Trail in the hotel or hostel where you are staying. Most of these establishments have warehouses where they will store your things. If you do not trust the place where you are staying, we will gladly store your belongings in our office.
